BAFTS is a vibrant network of shops and suppliers dedicated to promote fair trade retail in the UK. Established in 1995 by Aileen Garden, then manager of Gateway World Shop in Durham, BAFTS originally provided a membership organisation for handicraft shops selling fair trade goods. Twenty years on, BAFTS currently have approximately 150 members; a mixture of shops and suppliers from all over the UK. BAFTS is a member of WFTO (World Fair Trade Organisation) and a supported member of Social Enterprise UK.
